Alcohol consumption: whether the interviewee ever had a drink of any kind of alcohol. We compared clinical characteristics and iron indices between the diabetes and non-diabetes groups using a two-sample t-test for variables with normal distribution, χ2 test for variables with count data, and a non-parametric test for variables with non-normal distribution
