From: Long-term treatment with metformin in the prevention of fatty liver in Zucker diabetic fatty rats
Protein expression of liver AMPK. Liver tissues were obtained from the Zucker lean rats (ZL), vehicle-treated ZDF rats (V) and metformin-treated ZDF rats (Met) after 6-month treatment. Equal amounts of liver lysates (100 μg) were subjected to SDS-PAGE to immunoblot for AMPK and phosphorylated-AMPK (p-AMPK). Metformin-treated rats showed activation of AMPK.
