  1. *Diabetes mellitus was defined as a plasma glucose of at least 7.0 mmol/L fasting or 11.1 mmol/L at 2 hours post-load, or as the use of antidiabetic agents in all subjects (75 diabetic patients), and as a plasma glucose of at least 7.0 mmol/L fasting or 11.1 mmol/L at 2 hours post-load in patients who had an oral glucose tolerance test (9 diabetic patients).
