Effect of autophagy inhibition on LC3-autophagy marker expression in visceral adipocytes of WOKW and LEW.1W rats. Perilipin A (green, limited to adipocytes) with the microtubule-associated protein light chain 3 (LC3, red) were detected in visceral adipocytes (higher autophagic activity) of WOKW and LEW.1W rats using double immunofluorescence staining (a–a′, d–d′). After inhibition of PI3K signaling pathway the immunoreactivity of LC3 positive vesicles was not detectable (b′, d′). Nuclei are counterstained with DAPI (blue)
