Experimental protocol. Both the db/+ and db/db mice were fed a standard chow diet until 8 weeks of age and were then given free access to the experimental diets. Experiments were performed on db/+ and db/db mice after 8 weeks on the SL diet, SO diet, SL + DPP-4 inhibitor (0.4 % des-fluoro-sitagliptin) diet, or SO + DPP-4 inhibitor (0.4 % des-fluoro-sitagliptin) diet
