Immunohistochemistry and real-time PCR detect that progesterone replacement inhibits the TGF-β expression in the diabetic kidney. A immunohistochemical stain of the kidney sections (hematoxylin staining; magnification, ×400) show that the TGF-β immunostaining (brown staining) in the glomeruli was much stronger in the D and the D-OVX groups compared with the ND group (arrows).
