Slc2a4 and GLUT4 expression in skeletal muscle. Rats were injected with either vehicle (Wistar, W; Wistar-Kyoto, WKY and Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats, SHR) or alloxan (diabetic Wistar, D-W; diabetic Wistar-Kyoto, D-WKY and diabetic SHR, D-SHR), and studied after 4 weeks, without any treatment. Skeletal muscles were excised for analysis of soleus Slc2a4 mRNA (A) and GLUT4 protein (B) expression and EDL Slc2a4 mRNA (C) and GLUT4 protein (D) expression. Data are mean ± SEM of 5 to 7 animals. #P < 0.05, ##P < 0.01, ###P < 0.001 vs. other groups, *P < 0.05 vs. W, + P < 0.05 vs. WKY, P < 0.01 vs. D-WKY, P < 0.05, P < 0.001 vs. SHR.
